Birkbeck's management research is at the forefront of rigorous, impactful, socially responsible research on issues such as corporate governance, business ethics, entrepreneurship and innovation, consumer research and sustainability. The 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) results show that 83% of Birkbeck's research is ranked 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.
We are a diverse community in terms of research interests and backgrounds, and we support a plurality of approaches and methods. Research in the school must pass our research ethics process.
Our research facilities include internal College and school funding schemes, administrative and technical research support, meeting spaces both physical and online, as well as software licenses freely available to our academics. Thanks to the Birkbeck Library, our academics are able to access a wide range of databases and research resources, including online live databases such as Bloomberg Terminal to ensure current enriched access to live data streams for research.
Other funding is now also enabling additional access to online journal subscriptions and support for their wider use in interdisciplinary research.
We aim to produce world-leading research that is theoretically informed, academically rigorous and that has relevance for the real world.
Our academics cover a broad range of research topics, including governance of business and socio-economic institutions; social and environmental business responsibility; entrepreneurship and innovation; marketing; accounting and finance.
